Assistant Director of Care (ADOC), RPN



Organizational Background

: Fairview Seniors Community is a not-for-profit, charitable, faith-based Continuum of Care located in Cambridge (corner of Langs Drive and Concession Road) supported by 20 Mennonite and Brethren in Christ Congregations. It is one of three campuses of Fairview Parkwood Craigwiel Communities.

The vibrant Fairview campus offers more than a housing solution. It has been purposefully designed and expanded to create a sense of community for older adults where all are welcome.

Fairview Mennonite Home, where the role is based, is a Long-Term Care Home which currently cares for 128 residents. However, Fairview is currently undergoing an extensive construction project when on completion it will expand to accommodate 192 residents. This position is a new role and will come on-board for our 3rd phase with a start date of December 2025.

Position Summary:

The ADOC (RPN) works within their legislative scope of practice as described and outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. The ADOC collaborates with the resident or substitute decision maker (SDM), and the health care team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the resident's plan of care. Supported by the Director of Care, the ADOC will also provide leadership and mentorship to the LTC nursing team to enhance their knowledge, assessment skills, and ability to care for residents in place, and leads and collaborates in research, education, and evidence-based practice initiatives to optimize resident, LTC and health system outcomes.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

include, but not limited to, the following under the guidance and direction of the DOC:

? Administer policies and procedures for the home area under your supervision for all nursing staff, residents, families, medical staff, other departments and service providers

? Maintain a positive image of the Home through ongoing communication with external contacts including families and other stakeholders

? Perform all tasks with an acceptable standard of skill and sense of responsibility, as per CNO and FLTCA legislation.

? Ensure that employees work safely and in compliance with the relevant statutes and regulations and with the safe work procedures and directives as established by the Home

? Follow infection prevention and control procedures, as per best practice guidelines

? Conduct and participate in investigation in the Home related to complaints, critical incidents and home incidents as they occur with oversight from the DOC

? Conduct and participate in investigations into employee disciplinary issues, including registered staff and personal support workers

? Ensure resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted

? Assist with admission and annual care conferences for residents of your home area and as needed

? Review of quarterly indicators generated by the RAI/MDS, as needed

? Ensure resident ongoing care needs are met; ensure development of individualized plan of care to address those needs.

? Assist coordination of third party and/or contract service providers e.g. dental hygiene, optometry, foot care, as needed to meet the needs of resident on the home area under supervision

? Promote and conduct formal/informal education for personal support workers and front-line staff

? Evaluate and conduct performance appraisals of front-line staff

? Participate with hiring, as needed.

? Ensure the availability and maintenance of supplies and equipment in a fiscally responsible manner

? Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:



Essential:



? Registration, and is entitled to practice with no restrictions, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

? Diploma in Practical Nursing from a recognized college.

? Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external groups to accomplish client specific and organizational goals and objectives, excellent writing and communication skills, skill in critical appraisal of research studies, knowledge of health promotion, and demonstrated excellence in leadership in a team setting.

? Proficient with computers and a variety of software.

Preferred:



? Three years of recent experience in an LTC or public/community health setting, a minimum of two years' experience in an LTC nursing role.

Salary



The final compensation offered will vary based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, and skills. Fairview is committed to providing a fair, equitable and competitive package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization. The salary range is between $66,000 and $80,000.
