Assistant Department Manager - Replenishment NIGHTS (Halifax Market) - Currently supporting Young Street Superstore #354 - As part of our Management Team in conjunction with the Department Manager, you will be a mentor and leader, developing your team through succession planning initiatives, supporting our Care, Ownership, Respect, and Excellence (CORE) Values. Part of your responsibility as an Assistant Department Manager will include overnight responsibilities for executing the stock replenishment plans and preparing the isles, shelves and perimeter of the store with full inventory and ready for our customer shopping experience each morning when the store opens for business. This role encompasses the grocery, dairy, and frozen departments.

No Previous Retail or Management Experience?

While the successful applicant may benefit from having Retail Store Experience or previous experience leading/managing a team, we are on the lookout for a candidate willing to learn and take on a new career in Retail.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist the Department Manager in directing and supervising all replenishment and overnight staff to secure efficient in stock position for our customers.
  • Ensure productivity within all areas is efficient, achieving expectations within each department.
  • To respond immediately to any colleague inquiries, staffing issues, power interruptions, alarm notifications, and /or other related matters that may materialized during the overnight operation of the store/building.
  • To maximize sales and gross profit through productivity and efficiencies, ensuring goals and budgets are met
  • To interpret and administer Company policy and ensure compliance with the Employee Guidelines
  • Responsible for maintaining the condition of all areas of the store during the overnight.
  • To ensure the safety and sanitation and overall conditions of the sales floor, back shop, coolers, freezers for each department when managing the overnight team.
What You'll Need:
  • Flexibility to work a continuous rotation of overnight shifts including weekends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Accept responsibility for department metrics, leadership and colleague engagement.
  • Three to five years' experience in the retail service industry considered beneficial
  • Prior management experience considered beneficial
  • Grade 12 Diploma (GED or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
