Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of the Special Event Developer, assists in delivery of summer events organized by the Section.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with the coordination and implementation of the City summer events.
2. Participates in equipment and supply gathering, set-up and take down for events and displays.
3. Plans and leads activities during events. Monitors activity areas to ensure a safe environment.
4. Assists the Special Event Developer with concession and merchandise sales.
5. Assists with set-up and support of community group and artisan areas at events.
6. Assists with social media marketing by uploading pictures and promoting events.
7. Assists with event volunteers including on-site sign-in/out, task assignments and support.
8. Collects relevant demographic data from event participants for grant compliance.
9. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:

  • Diploma, or currently enrolled in recreation, arts programming, events management, or a related field; and
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative duties, recreation and/or arts programming and/or volunteer management
  • Basic knowledge of social media tools and trends
Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Must be at basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adapt to change
  • Self-starter with proven organizational skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • Ability to work to deadlines and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
  • May be required to provide a successful driver\xe2\x80\x99s record (uncertified)
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Will be required to work irregular hours, weekends, and outdoors in all weather conditions
