The Assistant Cook is responsible to the Head Cook to ensure a high standard of service delivery for the Food
Services Department. The position includes food preparation and handling, dining room and cleanliness of food
services areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Journeyman cook preferred, but not required
Working knowledge of preparing meals for senior populations
Considerable experience in group / institutional cooking
Supervisory experience preferred
WHMIS and First Aid training required
Food Handling course required
REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for the preparation of food
Assist in menu planning
Assist dietary staff where required
General organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, dining room, housekeeping and food storage areas

Mandatory LAPP membership for permanent Part-time and Full-time employees that work a 0.7 FTE or greater (see policy FS 03-04)
