Job Description

Our client is a market leader in the emerging field of digital or virtual advertising replacement for real-time broadcast and streaming of in-venue advertising in sports broadcasting. Our client has recently expanded its operations into North America and secured a long-term agreement with a well renowned professional sports league to deploy its technology on a league wide basis. Our client has been present in the Canadian market for about year and has seen exponential revenue growth.

The company\'s Operations base is situated in Toronto, and they are now looking to hire an Assistant Controller to act as the key finance support for their business in North America and the team based in the Toronto office. This is a team of six all hired in the last 12 months with further plans to expand.

The Assistant Controller will report to the Group Financial Controller (GFC) in the UK and act as business partner to the Head of Broadcast Operations (HBO) and the wider team.

This is primarily an in-office role (downtown Toronto), however, our client is committed to considering flexible working accommodations, where appropriate.

Snapshot of the Role:

\xc2\xb7 Preparation of Month End Accounts.

\xc2\xb7 Preparation of Year End Accounts.

\xc2\xb7 Preparation of Annual Budgets and Forecasts.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for raising sales invoices to clients for commercial licensing and operational costs. This includes revenue recognition of Licensing and Service Revenues across Canadian and US entities.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for accurate reporting of overheads over all cost centers.

\xc2\xb7 Overseeing Payroll.

\xc2\xb7 Ensuring CapEx purchase orders / invoices are properly coded and GFC notified for adding to FAR on NetSuite.

\xc2\xb7 Working with GFC and external tax teams on corporate tax and HST compliance and filing.

\xc2\xb7 Balance Sheet account reconciliations.

\xc2\xb7 Reviewing financial performance and making GFC aware of risks/opportunities.

\xc2\xb7 Assisting the London finance team with adhoc queries.

About You:

Your Key Qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 University Degree in Finance or Accounting.

\xc2\xb7 CPA.

\xc2\xb7 2+ years of experience in industry (SaaS/Sports/Media/Broadcasting preferred).

\xc2\xb7 2-4 years of experience in Full Cycle accounting - this is crucial as the Assistant Controller is key finance support for North America/Toronto.

\xc2\xb7 Experience with IFRS reporting - in particular, revenue recognition.

\xc2\xb7 Experience working at a Startup/Small firm.

\xc2\xb7 Experience with NetSuite or any ERP system.

\xc2\xb7 Solid intermediate-advanced Excel experience.
