About the Role:

The Assistant Manager, Contracts will be supporting the contract needs for Loblaw Repair & Maintenance, Construction & Design, and Store Supplier, and will be reporting to the Sr. Manager, Contracts for Loblaw Repair & Maintenance, Construction & Design and Store Supplies. The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Manager are to optimally prepare, examine, analyze, negotiate, and amend contracts that involve the purchase or sale of goods not for resale or services such as equipment, materials, supplies, or products. This role requires the individual to collaborate with multiple team members including Sourcing Managers, various Stakeholders, Privacy, Security, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Finance, and the Legal department to ensure that all terms and conditions stated in contract documents are in line with Loblaw\xe2\x80\x99s standard strategic objectives.

Accountabilities:

Draft and negotiate required contract documents (Master Agreements, Statements of Works, Letters, Confidentiality Agreements, Amendments etc.) by applying a basic knowledge of contract law, company policy, and feedback from Business Stakeholders.

Assist with inquiries from the Business Stakeholders related to contract documents and lead Business team members through recommended processes related to contract document inquiries (termination requests, , scope commitments, etc.).

Assist with the development of contract summaries, including risk summaries, for senior executives.

Analyze and verify that legal terms in all contracts are in line with procurement objectives, legal requirements, and policies.

Analyze the potential for restructuring existing contracts or performing contract refreshes for additional benefits and reduced risk.

Acquire and review Certificates of Insurance and Worker\xe2\x80\x99s Compensation Clearance Certificates to ensure minimum requirements are met as per agreement obligations

Perform administrative tasks, including opening and publishing an Ariba contract coordinating and following up on internal approval and signature process within set timelines, responding to general contract inquiries, etc.

Assist team in tracking contract renewal dates to determine action required prior to contract expiration

Decide on urgency and priority when responding to requests and contract obligations

Skills and Capabilities:

Basic understanding of contract provisions and risk identification

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent prioritization skills

Great teammate with proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships throughout the organization

Ability to work with and communicate effectively to all levels of management

Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Ability to quickly learn about procurement contract management processes

Ability to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals

Basic contract drafting and negotiating skills

Basic legal background with some legal education and experience would be an asset

Experience in reviewing Repair & Maintenance, Construction & Design and/or Store Supplies contracts would be an asset

What you will need:

1-3 years of contract management experience, including drafting and negotiating contracts

Bilingual preferred and is a strong asset

Education in contract management, business, law or related field would be an asset

PC skills (contract databases, Word, SharePoint)

Knowledge of Repair & Maintenance, Construction & Design and Store Supplies an asset

Experience with Ariba, Fieldglass, and DocuSign an asset
