Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy is seeking a passionate and committed Assistant Coach for our Senior Girls Basketball Team. This role is ideal for a coach dedicated to developing high-performance athletes in a structured, elite prep environment. The successful candidate will support the Head Coach in all facets of the program while serving as a positive mentor to young student-athletes.
This is a residential position that includes room and board, allowing the coach to fully integrate into our academy environment and build meaningful relationships with players and staff. It also requires a high level of maturity and responsibility to oversee minors. Requires a Vulnerable Sectors Screen and G level drivers license.
Reporting to the Head Coach, Sr. Girls this role will also support cross-functional collaboration with the Manager, Admissions & Recruiting, Director of Athletics & other team Head Coaches, to ensure alignment in culture, training and communication within the entire Basketball Academy.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading all practices, games, individual training sessions, film sessions, and strength & conditioning sessions
Support athlete development on and off the court through individualized coaching, mentorship, and academic accountability
Coordinate logistics for team travel, accommodation, and tournaments
Drive student-athletes to practices, games, and events (must hold a valid G driver's license)
Participate in scouting, recruitment, and evaluation of prospective student-athletes, both domestically and internationally
Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork, and respect
Support academic liaison efforts to ensure student-athletes are progressing toward post-secondary eligibility and success
Contribute to media content and social media storytelling to help raise program visibility
Provide residence supervision & accountability
Complete any and all duties as assigned by Head Coaches, Directors, Managers, CEO and President
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience at the prep, club, collegiate, or high school level
Strong understanding of player development and the Canadian/North American basketball pathway
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Must hold a valid G driver's license and be comfortable operating academy vehicles
Must have Vulnerable Sectors Screen to work with minors
Ability to live on campus and engage in a residential school environment
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to complete training
NCCP coaching certifications are an asset
