Surrey Water Polo Club is one of the fastest-growing water polo programs in Canada. Our mission is to create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where young athletes can learn new skills, develop confidence, and have fun in the sport of water polo. With over 400 athletes from beginner to competitive levels, we are proud to offer clear development pathways, training, and mentorship for our coaches.

Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Coach to support our 10U, 12U, and 14U Development Programs. This is a part-time contract position with practices primarily held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (2-3 sessions per week). For the right candidate, additional coaching opportunities with our competitive programs may also be available.

Duties

Support on-deck coaching under the direction of the lead coach Help implement practice plans designed for skill development and athlete engagement Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all athletes Assist with group management, fostering a fun but structured training atmosphere Contribute to maintaining an ideal coach-to-athlete ratio of 1:10

Qualifications

Prior experience as a water polo athlete or coach is an asset NCCP certifications preferred; minimum requirements must be completed before the first practice (with ongoing development supported by the club) Passion for working with youth athletes and developing their skills Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills Availability on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays
