Job Overview


We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Assistant Chocolatier to join our team. You'll support the head chocolatier in the day-to-day production of our award-winning chocolates -- from polishing molds and scaling recipes to helping create new and unusual works of chocolate art.

Key Responsibilities:



Production Assistance:

Assist with the creation of filled chocolates, bars, truffles, and other confections by scaling recipes accurately, preparing ingredients, and mixing components.

Molding and Decorating:

Clean and polish chocolate molds, pipe fillings, and assist with decorating and hand-dipping chocolates.

Quality Control:

Unmold finished products, check for quality defects, and ensure all products meet the company's quality standards.

Packaging and Inventory:

Provide packaging support for finished products (bars, seasonal collections, etc.), rotate stock to maintain freshness, and assist with inventory management.

Kitchen Maintenance:

Wash dishes, maintain an organized and clean work area, and follow all sanitizing schedules and food safety protocols (GMPs).

General Duties:

Perform other kitchen-related responsibilities as assigned, which may include lifting up to 50 lbs of ingredients or supplies.

Customer Service (Optional):

This position may occasionally involve assisting the front-of-house team by serving customers or providing product knowledge.

Required Skills & Qualifications



Experience:

General kitchen, food preparation, or food production experience is preferred. Experience in a bakery or pastry environment can be an asset.

Certifications:

Food Safe certification (Minimum Level 1)

Core Competencies:

Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality and precision. Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently. Strong knowledge of food handling practices, sanitation, and food safety regulations. Organized, efficient, and eager to learn. Ability to work well in a small, collaborative team environment and also work independently. Good physical fitness, including the ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items (maximum 50 lbs). Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Requirements



Proven experience in cake decorating, baking, or confectionery production; restaurant or food industry experience is a plus Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and food handling techniques Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or during product demonstrations Attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for culinary arts Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality Prior experience in packaging finished products professionally is desirable

Work Environment



Full-time position - Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, 37.5 hours paid (half hour lunch break)

Flexibility with work schedule (may need to work early mornings, late evenings and/or weekends) especially during peak seasons like Valentines, Mother's Day, Easter and Christmas.
