Position Description

The ABM (S) is a hybrid role responsible for both the leadership of a team of service delivery employees as well as managing an assigned portfolio of clients with related sales goals and targets. The ABM(S) ensures current and potential members receive exceptional service delivery by providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to direct reports. This role participates in goal setting, tracking branch results and monitoring quality of sales/service delivery targets; responsible for branch compliance/FINTAC audit rating and may manage the branch, within designated limits and authority, in the absence of the branch manager.

Accountabilities * Leadership: Provides leadership and direction to assigned service delivery employees, conducts orientation and training as required. Prioritizes and balances workloads, conducts regular coaching/mentoring sessions, and is responsible for completing performance reviews. Builds and promotes a team environment, reinforces positive behavior and corrects performance as required. Initiates disciplinary action, as required. Works to resolve complex or escalated member issues.

  • Annual Business Plan: Participates in the development and achievement of the annual business plan. Ensures goals and targets for the team are achieved, and ensures employees receive the training and tools required to be successful. Participates in setting branch service delivery targets, and inspires employees to provide exceptional service delivery to members.
  • Member Services: Builds strong relationships with current and potential members. Identifies member life stage cycle and provides financial advice to members or refers to appropriate advisor. This role manages an assigned portfolio through proactive contact, and ensuring current and future needs are identified and met. Processes a full range of complex member transactions including but not limited to MFDA products and services, retail mortgages, and personal and RRSP loans. Ensures members receive exceptional service and strong relationships are built and maintained, and that established service standards/protocols are followed. The ABM(S) ensures needs are identified, appropriate transactions and/or referrals are completed, and that all cash services policies and procedures are followed, and provides direct service delivery to members based on branch needs.
  • Financial & Risk Management: Ensures direct report\'s credit recommendations and/or approval are in accordance with established policies. Approves credit application within established limits, as required. Investigates and resolves risk management security issues such as robbery or fraud; acts as branch compliance officer and completes related legislative processes and procedures and communicates updates on legislative requirements to branch employees, as required.
  • Business Development: Seeks opportunities to promote the branch and FW within the community by participating in community events, and enhancing or developing new member relationships. Refers new contacts and potential sales opportunities to appropriate advisor.
  • Branch Goals: Shares accountability for branch financial performance by establishing team goals and targets and ensures the achievement of cross sell and referral targets. The ABM(S) sets goals and targets for branch campaigns, ensures the team proactively promotes FW products and services, and participates in branch campaigns.
  • Branch Support: Participates in annual budget planning process. Oversees branch security, compliance, and internal audits, and ensures night and mail deposits are recorded and processed accurately, and completes all cash management procedures and processes, as required.
  • Other duties as required by branch leadership
Branch/Regional Differentiation:
  • Direct reports are typically Branch Advisor & Member Services Advisors; depending on region/branch needs, the position may have sales advisory roles as direct reports.
  • May be required to provide front line service delivery to members for 25% of the time or more, based on branch size and needs
People/Thought Leadership
  • Directly responsible for supervising frontline or administrative employees
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Mutual Fund License required depending on region
  • Must complete the internal First West certification program specific to this role within the required timeframe
  • PFP preferred
  • Leadership Development courses preferred
  • 4 years progressive experience in sales advisory roles within the financial services industry experience required
  • Business development experience preferred
  • Sales leadership and coaching experience preferred
Competencies
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes and/or experience coaching a sales team
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize needs, identify appropriate products and build strong customer relationships
  • Proven track record achieving or exceeding sales targets in retail lending and investment products and service
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and solve problems using common sense and sound judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to be positive and flexible to change and work in a busy environment
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize workloads, and solve problems effectively
Skills
  • Proficient in computer software programs e.g. Microsoft Office and banking software programs
Risk Management
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
