Metalworks Institute is the educational branch of The Metalworks Group, we are a sister company to the world-famous Metalworks Studios (recording studio) and Metalworks Production Group (live event production) and emerging tech start-up SoundsUnite (app-based music education). Metalworks has been a pillar of the Canadian music scene for almost 50 years.

Metalworks is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. Whether you're looking for part-time or full-time work, we're open to structuring the position to suit the ideal candidate. This role is based on-site in Mississauga and offers flexibility in hours and employment arrangement (employee or contractor).

About the Role

You'll be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting operations, working closely with our leadership and administrative teams to maintain accurate financial records across multiple related entities. We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in bookkeeping, who is comfortable with Sage50 and the Microsoft platform, and who's adaptable to our established workflows and systems.

Responsibilities

Maintain general ledgers and chart of accounts Process accounts payable and receivable Manage payroll and related remittances Reconcile bank and credit card statements Prepare HST and other government filings Generate financial reports and assist with year-end preparation Support budgeting and cash flow tracking Collaborate with department heads to ensure accurate cost allocation Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external accountants as needed

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in full-cycle bookkeeping Proficient in

Sage50 Accounting software

Strong working knowledge of

Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Experience working across multiple business entities is an asset Knowledge of the music or entertainment industry is a bonus but not required
