As the Asset Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting existing building conditions, systems and the quality assurance of new residential construction throughout Western Canada. In this role, you will manage inspections through assigned levels of priority; perform technical audits, provide solutions necessary to mitigate operational risks, and to support the production of different construction schedules. The successful candidate must be willing to travel up to two weeks per month Your contributions to the team:
  • Perform building condition assessments and audits on all existing and new properties and property assets
  • Perform inspections throughout capital jobs and report back to the building specialist and/or coordinator
  • Identify elements of building projects that are non-compliant with applicable codes and regulations
  • Investigate problems relating to existing structural elements, building components and systems
  • Inspect plumbing, electrical, and other building systems to ensure that they meet provincial building codes
  • Use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to perform technical audits and inspections
  • Ensure all identified building problems and concerns have been communicated to the appropriate authorities
  • Suggest ways to improve the cost-effectiveness of building material, functionality and energy use
  • Prepare reports pertaining to building project activity
  • Responsible for the use and care/maintenance of company tools, vehicles and equipment
  • Assist commissioning team with building turnovers
What you need to be successful:
  • Restoration and construction experience, building maintenance experience, and/or property management background considered an asset
  • Diploma in architecture technology, building science, or inspection considered an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials and construction processes
  • Ability to quickly identify and understand project issues
  • Familiar with health and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience using in-house databases or construction management systems
  • Willingness to travel between provinces
