About the role

We are looking for an Assessor/ Trainer \xe2\x80\x93 Underground (UG) Mining to be responsible for training employees and contractors. To train employees in safe and proper methods of UG Mining operations.

Reporting to the Training Superintendent, you will be working on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation at the Lac de Gras Mine Site. Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for:
  • Developing, administering, and leading underground operator training programs
  • Training employees in safe and proper methods of underground mining operations
  • Follow-up with employees in the field who have received training to monitor learning retention levels
  • Analysing training programs/software
  • Developing performance-based systems to evaluate current and future training needs
  • Coordinating training activities and perform administrative functions using SAP
  • Complying with and promoting the health, safety and environment improvement action plan and all Diavik and Rio Tinto Standards
  • Delivering HSE training for but not limited to confined space, hot work, isolation training
You will also be expected to assist on an as needed basis to facilitate all aspects of our HSE training which include but are not limited to:
  • Confined space training
  • Fall Arrest training
  • Hot work
  • Crane and Rigging
  • Isolation/Arc Flash
  • Light vehicle
All required training for the above mentioned HSE training will be provided.

About you
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Minimum 10 years of UG Mining experience on various types of UG equipment (i.e. Scoops, Haul trucks, Toyotas, Skid Steers, Drills, etc.)
  • A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Training certifications on UG Mining operations would be an asset
  • Experience in developing, administering, and leading UG operator training programs
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on training in an amicable, positive, supportive, patient and motivational manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, translating technical information for the target audience
  • Experience with industry knowledge to understand concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Previous experience with SAP system would be an asset
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
