As a Customer Solutions Advisor, you will provide service to clients and resolve issues for taxpayers and citizens by conducting extensive research and when necessary, you will also coordinate activities with partner business units. Primary duties include:

• Respond to inquiries regarding residential and commercial property tax.
• Initiate adjustments and refunds that are in the best interest of The City of Calgary and taxpayers.
• Prepare worksheets and necessary back up data and information.
• Interpret and explain legislation and bylaws related to property taxation.
• Research issues of misdirected payments and penalties on property tax accounts.
• Provide advice to taxpayers on how to prevent tax recovery notifications / liens on their properties.
• Research discrepancies between legal descriptions and addressing of property.
• Create and review Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) applications.
• Produce property assessment and tax documents: assessment notice, roll report, statement of account, tax bill, and tax certificates.
• Verify property assessment details: quality, size, location, age, additions, renovations, living area, and influences.



Qualifications • A completed High School diploma or equivalency (For example: GED).
• At least 5 years of experience in an office and customer service environment.
• The experience must include at least 2 years working with the public in a similar problem-solving capacity involving interaction with the public in person, in writing, and by phone.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook) with strong typing skills.
• Previous experience with Municipal Assessment and Taxation would be an asset.
• Previous working experience in a politically sensitive environment is preferred.
• You have excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills, diplomacy, proven problem-solving ability, political sensitivity, and the ability to manage public impressions.

Position Type: 8 Temporary (up to 10 months - various terms)
Location: 800 Macleod Trail SE

Compensation: Pay Grade 6 $33.29 - 44.52 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35-hour work week
