About the Role



As an

Assayer Manager (Fire Assay),

you'll supervise the team in all aspects of the Fire Assay job, while emphasizing quality, production, turnaround time, and safety.

Responsibilities



Hands on managing of fire assay technicians performing fire assay analyses (weighing, fluxing, fusing, cupelling, picking beads, etc.) as per SOP's. Accountable for maintaining production and quality targets and ensuring optimal staff levels to achieve production, quality, safety, and financial targets. Train employees according to SOP's, safety controls, and equipment. Motivate staff, set goals, review performance and assess training needs. Schedule and prioritize workflow through the department so that client deadlines are met in a timely fashion; monitor throughput and performance. Assist with implementing new methods and continuous improvement. Investigate and solve client complaints, NCRs, and root causes for re-work to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including the lead control program. Responsible for reporting any safety concerns or infractions. Ensure all Production logs (fusion, cupellation, etc.) are accurate and kept up to date. Accountable for routine and non-routine equipment maintenance. Ensure maintenance logs are maintained as outlined in the SOP. Oversee and participate in the departmental housekeeping on a per shift basis. Ability to perform Fire Assay duties when needed.

Qualifications



High School/College Diploma Fire Assayer Certification is an asset 3+ years of experience as an assayer (Fire Assay) at a lab 3+ years of supervisory experience at a laboratory
