The Asbestos Removers will be reporting out of our Davisville Yard and will be locked in for a period of the 3-years.
What You Will Do

You will be responsible for site preparation, and the removal of asbestos/mould contaminated materials.
Your duties include chiselling, scraping, sweeping, shovelling, and bagging asbestos/mould contaminated materials in accordance with strict procedures and government regulations concerning personal safety and asbestos/mould handling.
You may also be assigned to general labouring duties, the removal of manmade mineral fibre (MMMF), and snow removal when not involved with asbestos/mould removal projects.
You will be performing tasks that are heavy in nature and involve exposure to dirt, noise, wetness and working from heights.
This work will be in subway tunnels, with occasional work in office buildings, garage and shop location.
Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
What Qualifications Do You Bring?

You require a grade 10 education or its equivalent through practical experience
You are able to comprehend verbal and written instructions
You have a valid (non-probationary) Class G Province of Ontario Drivers Licenc
As the successful candidate:
You must be certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program;
You must pass a medical exam and pulmonary function test
You must have or successfully obtain the Asbestos Abatement Worker (AAW)253W certification as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act
You will be required to successfully complete various TTC training programs such as Subway/SRT Rule Book, as well as programs for the operation of a TTC vehicle, transportation of dangerous goods, forklift, power fastener, scissor lift/power boom operations, fall arrest/safety harness, emergency first aid, WHMIS, C.P.R. and power cut monitoring
You must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
