Job Description

The

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist

plays a pivotal role in leading all activities pertaining to the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools across CPSA. The AI Specialist is responsible for providing direction and specialized leadership to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence is aligned with CPSA's objectives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




Act as the lead and point person on initiatives and topics pertaining to AI. Develop, test, and deploy AI models, particularly Natural Language Processing (NLP)-based solutions, for analyzing physician practices, regulatory documents, and operational workflows. Lead AI-powered automation projects to improve efficiency across CPSA by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Implement AI-driven data analysis for monitoring physician prescribing practices, risk assessment, and compliance tracking. Ensure AI models are explainable and transparent, minimizing bias in physician oversight and public-facing AI applications. Support AI-driven research collaborations with external partners, including academic institutions and government bodies. Organize and participate in Advisory Committee activities as required. Provide training and coaching to CPSA leadership and staff on AI use and methodologies. Perform data analysis and support in establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of AI tools and use data-driven insights to identify areas for optimization. In support of continuous quality improvement, review and make recommendations to update process or procedures within CPSA. Other duties as required.



QUALIFICATIONS




Required Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in health sciences, computer sciences, biostatistics, or mathematics. (Graduate degree preferred but not required)
+ 5 years of related experience developing, analyzing, and using artificial intelligence software and tools

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

+ Extensive experience in assessment, data collection, and reporting within the healthcare industry
+ Knowledge of the Health Information Act, Health Professions Act, and privacy legislation
+ In-depth experience and knowledge in analytics and statistics
+ Advanced interpersonal, communication, and business writing skills
+ Knowledge of cloud computing and AI deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and strong expertise in programing languages (e.g., Python, R, Java)



SALARY



The annual salary for this position is $95,251 and includes a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan.

During the 90-day probationary period, the successful candidate will be required to work from CPSA's downtown Edmonton office. At the conclusion of a successful probationary period, a hybrid work arrangement may be considered.
