Reporting to UMC Creative Director, the Art Director has an innate understanding of music and culture and how storytelling through music can create deep, emotional connections with consumers. As a natural conceptual thinker your ideas are informed by strategic briefs, but you're able to create integrated and creative ways for brands to connect and be relevant in culture. You are able to manage all areas of a creative campaign from ideation and design, to execution across all channels including experiential.

Responsibilities

  • Assists team in executing all aspects of the deep understanding and immersion in culture - primarily music/art/fashion/culinary
  • Oversees multiple complex projects with concurrent deadlines - effective time management
  • Develops new business ideas/pitches as well as oversees the creative deliverables across projects
  • Acts as a leader in developing new ideas for our clients
  • Demonstrates strong strategic and creative thinking and proactively develops and suggests strong ideas at team and client meetings - helping solve problems and generating new opportunities for clients
  • Exhibits poise and professionalism and articulates ideas in effective, persuasive, and passionate ways
  • Participates in a variety of presentation settings, one-on-one meetings, group meetings, and provides intelligent, convincing responses
  • Preference to those that are strong at digital design
Requirements
  • Degree in a related field
  • 4-5 years of agency experience working with global brands and integrated campaigns
  • Familiar and fluent with creative tools for PC and Mac OS, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Experience executing in digital, social, branded content and experiential
  • Passionate about culture and music
  • Exceptional knowledge of advertising and its industry
  • Flexible and autonomous with the ability to work well in a team setting
  • Exceptional creative vision paired with a world-class creative approach
  • Strong ability to defend and sell ideas to clients and is savvy at fielding questions
  • Strong understanding of the creative process
  • Demonstrates original thinking and new ways of engaging consumers
The UMC team works in a hybrid, flexible environment with three days a week from our creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto and two days to work virtually.
