The Position

Plan International Canada is seeking an experienced Art Director who will be responsible for leading the creative vision and direction of the organization\'s visual brand identity. As part of the Communications & Public Engagement team, the Art Director will work closely with the Creative Director and other team members and stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement visual strategies that support the organization\'s mission of advocating for children\'s rights and equality for girls.

What success looks like?

  • Evolve, develop and implement the organization\'s visual brand identify, based on global brand guidelines, across all communications channels, including print, digital and social media platforms.
  • Lead the implementation of upcoming global brand visual identity refresh. Identify the \xe2\x80\x9cwhat, how and when\xe2\x80\x9d associated with all the brand-related materials that will reflect this new evolution.
  • Lead, ideate and create design expression of all upcoming new donor products.
  • Lead the design and production of all visual communications materials including, impact reports, mini-magazines, the annual report, brochures, newsletters and other promotional materials. This also includes providing art direction for all video productions.
  • Envision and either create or assign infographics that bring data-driven storytelling to life in a meaningful and engaging way for our audience.
  • Be a hands-on designer directing but also being the lead designer creating the work.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive print and digital style guide (informed by global brand guidelines) that reflects the organization\'s visual brand identity and ensures consistency across all communications channels.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
  • Experience in a deadline-driven editorial Art Director role
  • Strong knowledge of editorial publishing processes and workflows
  • Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong understanding of visual branding and marketing principles
  • Experience managing a team of designers and creative professionals + managing freelance relationships as required for these talents
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and how it influences and guides accessible designs
  • Creative and innovative in your approach to design.
  • Diplomatic. You know how to navigate competing demands gracefully.
