We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Arena Operator to join the Recreation Centres Team on a 12 month term. The position reports to the Recreation Centres Team Leader and is responsible for:
Providing manual labour duties related to maintaining ice and equipment;
Ensuring the arenas and recreation facility common areas are maintained in proper and safe condition for public enjoyment;
Providing exceptional customer service;
Assisting with crowd control and basic security;
Operating the ice-resurfacing machine and power edger to ensure Arenas' ice surfaces are maintained, including ice making, removal and maintenance;
Opening and closing recreation centres as required;
General plumbing repair and maintenance;
Evening and weekend shifts required.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to:
High School diploma with specialized training recognized by a certificate;
3 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning and career progression required;
Possession of Arena Operator Level 1, or willing to obtain;
A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (non GDA) with less than 6 demerit points and no suspension or pending suspensions, required;
Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions;
Strong customer service skills;
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills.
