The Whitefish Lake Multiplex is a new state-of-the-art recreational facility at the Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 (Goodfish Lake). The facility will cater to a diverse range of sports and community events. The facility includes ice arena, fitness facilities, and event spaces, providing a dynamic and engaging environment for both athletes and community members.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Facility Manager to oversee day-to-day operations with a strong background in budgeting and financial management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and driving team performance. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing daily activities including ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Multiplex, hiring and managing staff, coordinating events, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the Multiplex.
Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Seek opportunities for revenue generation through facility rentals, events, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Coordinate the administration, insurance, risk management and special requirements of the Multiplex.
Oversees the effective operation of concessions including staffing, inventory, pricing and service delivery.
Oversee the daily operation of the Whitefish Lake #128 Multiplex, including the arena, common areas, equipment, and grounds.
Ensures quality ice resurfacing to accommodate various on ice activities by installing, removing, marking and maintaining the ice surface.
Checks ice-making equipment, machinery and supplies.
Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and welcoming for community members, guests, and visitors.
Monitor compliance with health and safety standards, including OH&S, fire codes, and facility regulations.
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Multiplex staff, including maintenance, custodial, and event personnel.
Develop succession planning strategies focusing on training of local community members in Multiplex operations.
Promotes and contributes to a healthy workplace culture, modelling nation values, integrity, and respect.
Work with a volunteer board, community partners and user groups to plan, coordinate, and support recreational activities, tournaments, and community events.
Manages bookings, ensuring all events are properly scheduled, staffed, and supported to enhance community engagement.
Coordinate regular inspections and maintenance of all facility equipment, including refrigeration systems, HVAC, and Zamboni operations.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to ensure longevity and performance of facility assets.
Act as a liaison between the facility and community organizations, user groups, and the general public.
Promote the use of the Multiplex through outreach, communication, and marketing strategies.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Facility Management, Recreation Administration, Business Management, or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous people is a must.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility or arena management, including budgeting and staff supervision.
Proven knowledge of arena systems, ice plant operations, and facility maintenance.
Arena Operator Level I and II (or willingness to obtain).
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months.
Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle required.
Police Security Check and Vulnerable Sector search mandatory.
Employment Conditions
The Arena Facility Manager will be required to work from Monday to Friday from 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M at the Whitefish Lake #128 Multiplex. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed. Physically fit and able to lift and move objects up to 20 lb and physically able to carry out inspections and assist with facility operations when necessary. Occasional travel as required.
There are no accommodations available on Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 , and the successful applicant will need to travel or consider relocating to the nearest town to Whitefish Lake First Nation #128.
