Job Summary

This position is accountable to the Manager, Regional Protection Services, Eastern Health, for the coordination of Health Emergency Management, Business Continuity and Security services throughout the region. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day supervision and direction to employees and managers on a variety of emergencies and securities matters, investigation of critical incidents and compliance with Government directives. The position proactively identifies, evaluates situations and environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health and directs corrective measures to mitigate or eliminate risk. In this context, this position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities involving all aspects, locations, and departments of Eastern Health. Coordinating all regional health emergency planning program activities with respect to all hazard\'s emergency planning program strategic plan and framework documentation. In addition, the successful candidate is also responsible for the delivery of security related activities/operational needs and advice to internal and external stakeholders through the provision of Targeted Violence Assessments, Infrastructure Threat Risk Assessments, and Security Reviews.
The successful candidate will ensure site Code emergency management plans are in place, contain current information and are aligned and coordinated with corporate, other health authority and municipal and provincial plans. Ensures Fire Life Safety Plans and procedures are in place throughout the organization and coordinates the activities of Site Emergency Operations Centers. Job Qualifications Education

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in relevant discipline is required.
  • Certified training in Disaster and Emergency Management is an asset.
Experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working in an Emergency Management setting is required.
  • Experience in an Emergency Operations Centre atmosphere with a good understanding of Incident Command principles is required.
  • Experience in delivering adult education programming, including the development of education material for broad audiences is an asset.
  • Recent Emergency Exercise development and delivery experience is an asset.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Knowledge and experience in Fire/Life Safety and relevant Legislation and Codes.
  • Knowledge in conducting Targeted Violence Assessments and Threat Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of planning process and a commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of business continuity management principles.
  • Significant understanding and working knowledge of the interrelated nature of departments and programs in a health care setting.
  • Ability to work with others in stressful situations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems approach to health care delivery.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience in writing policy documents.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving and communication skills and the ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
