If so, here is your opportunity to be part of the City of Edmonton's Development Services Branch. The Branch's Subdivision and Development Coordination team is looking to hire a student to assist with the review major and minor development applications to establish new addresses for residential homes, commercial buildings, and major development projects; interact with the public; and provide technical support to the City's Naming Committee for the naming of civic assets.
Working with our great team, you will have the opportunity to:
• Conduct data and site analysis to update addressing data
• Support with the review and establishment of Addresses related to Infill Subdivisions and Secondary Suite Applications
• Support with the review and establishment of Addresses related to Minor and Major Development Permits.
• Respond to inquiries from the general public, other departments, and the development industry on Addressing
• Assist Administration and the Naming Committee with the mapping of buildings, roads, and parks
• Conduct research on historic names, land uses, developing plans and other topics for Planners
• Collect and compile data related to land development and assist with the analysis of the gathered information
• Work with other Student Planners on a summer conference to showcase their projects
• Provide the subdivision planning unit with logistical and technical support on a wide range of activities and events
Qualifications :• Currently enrolled in an architectural technology, GIS technology, planning technician or related post-secondary diploma program
• Experience using Google Workspace or equivalent applications
• Experience using ArcPro
Assets:
• Experience reading and interpreting Architectural Drawings and Site Plans
• Experience with GIS software, Adobe, and other CAD applications
• Experience in using Spin, Pictometry, SLIM, or POSSE
Skills Required for Success:
• Familiarity with principles and practices of urban and regional planning, architectural design, and the development industry
• Ability to conduct research using various methodology and provide detailed analysis of information using statistical techniques and quantitative analysis
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting building plans/maps, applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and planning policy documents
• Flexibility to work in both an indoor office setting, outdoor on-site work and travel to multiple locations across the city

Conditions of Employment:

• Currently being enrolled and returning to school or a Post -Secondary Institution in the fall

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $19.098- $21.008 (Hourly)
