We are seeking a
Residential Architectural Technologist
(Intermediate to Senior level) to lead and support the design and production of high-quality architectural drawings and documentation for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
Create, coordinate, and oversee detailed construction drawings for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.
Ensure all drawings are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with company standards and client expectations.
Develop master plans and revise models/elevations as needed to reflect design changes.
Produce 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to support presentations and client communication.
Technical Oversight
Ensure compliance with the Manitoba Building Code, local zoning bylaws, and city requirements.
Conduct periodic building code and performance reviews throughout project phases.
Provide insights and development on building envelope, structure, and systems integration.
Project Coordination
Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and clients to streamline workflows and address project needs.
Liaise with municipal authorities for permitting and approvals.
Coordinate with engineers and consultants to ensure alignment and resolve design conflicts.
Participate in contract administration and provide technical support during construction, including site visits and quality checks.
Team Leadership & Mentorship (Senior Level)
Mentor and guide junior technologists and drafting staff, ensuring technical quality and professional growth.
Review drawings for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) prior to permit and construction issuance.
Provide hands-on design solutions and sketch concepts when needed.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
10+ years of experience in residential architecture, including custom homes, renovations, and subdivisions.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; SketchUp or other 3D modeling/rendering tools are an asset.
Experience with BuilderTrend would be an asset
Strong knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code and local residential construction practices.
Excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of construction assemblies and documentation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
Valid driver's license (for site visits)
