METHOD Innovation Partners develops and delivers advanced building systems that integrate design, prefabrication, and construction. Based in South Surrey, we're working on institutional projects ranging from $5M-$40M that push the boundaries of building envelope performance and construction efficiency through our EXO structural insulated panel system.
If you're energetic, creative and passionate about advancing building technology, bridging design intent with constructability, and working at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and prefabrication, you might be the perfect fit to join our team as an Architectural Technologist.
OVERVIEW:
The Architectural Technologist serves as a critical technical bridge between product development, construction delivery, and market requirements. This role combines deep technical knowledge of building systems, building design concepts, and construction documentation with hands-on involvement in developing and refining the EXO panel system and other innovative building products.
This position offers a unique opportunity to not only ensure superlative execution of projects, but also to shape product innovation and market strategy.
You will work at the intersection of design intent and constructability, optimizing the use of EXO panel systems and integrated building components while ensuring seamless integration with the clients' architectural vision. Your role involves transforming preliminary concepts into market-relevant applications that meet structural, envelope performance, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements. Your fluency in architectural language and construction documentation enables effective collaboration with architects, engineers, and internal teams.
As a client-facing technical expert, you will help present compelling products for use in compelling building designs, aligning innovative concepts with market demands and ensuring project success from the sales stage through construction completion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Review & Project Coordination:
Review and analyze architectural drawings, comparing Issued for Tender (IFT) and Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation to identify changes, conflicts, and coordination requirements
Overlay and reconcile multiple drawing sets to ensure design intent alignment and identify potential construction issues before fabrication
Conduct constructability reviews of architectural details and specifications, identifying opportunities for optimization or potential conflicts with manufacturing capabilities
Interpret and apply relevant building codes, envelope performance standards, and accessibility requirements to product design and project delivery
Serve as technical liaison with external architects and design consultants, translating design intent into scope relevant to the EXO system
Review shop drawings and coordinate technical submittals with project teams
Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation using Revit and other design software
Product Development & Innovation:
Collaborate with other members in the Product team to advance the EXO panel system, contributing expertise in building design concepts, structural integration, and aesthetic considerations
Develop exemplar building design concepts that showcase optimal EXO system applications for different building types and market segments, ensuring concepts align with market demands and architectural preferences
Create and detail connection systems, interface conditions, and assembly sequences that optimize manufacturing efficiency while ensuring seamless field installation
Research and evaluate emerging building design solutions, materials, and assembly methods that could enhance product performance or marketability
Participate in design charrettes and ideation sessions, bringing architectural perspective to product innovation discussions
Create technical documentation, assembly guides, and installation sequences that bridge manufacturing capabilities with field construction requirements
Support the development of standardized details and connection solutions that can be adapted across projects
Client Engagement & Sales Support:
Present technical aspects of the EXO panel system to architects, owners, and project stakeholders during sales presentations and design meetings
Contribute to proposal efforts by reviewing technical requirements, assessing project feasibility, and developing compelling technical content
Build relationships with architectural firms to understand their design processes, specification preferences, and technical requirements
Facilitate design coordination meetings, representing METHOD/EXO's manufacturing and construction capabilities
Support business development by identifying market opportunities where optimized EXO system applications provide superior solutions
Construction & Quality Support:
Provide technical guidance to construction teams on architectural intent, detailing requirements, and coordination with other building systems
Review field conditions and propose solutions when site conditions differ from design assumptions
Support quality assurance processes by reviewing manufactured components against architectural specifications
Assist in resolving technical issues that arise during fabrication or installation
Document lessons learned and feed insights back to product development and design teams
Conduct periodic site visits to ensure proper installation and address technical coordination issues
Communication & Documentation:
Prepare clear technical documentation, sketches, and marked-up drawings to communicate design intent and coordination requirements
Create presentation materials that effectively communicate technical benefits and capabilities to diverse audiences
Maintain project documentation and coordinate information flow between internal teams and external consultants
Develop technical specifications and performance criteria for various applications of the EXO system
