Architectural Technologist - Designer

An award-winning boutique architectural firm in Ottawa known for its commercial and institutional (schools, museums, churches, community centers, performing arts centers, arenas, city hall) projects seeks an AutoCAD Technologist or Designer to join their team.

This is a great opportunity for an internationally trained architect with a minimum of 3 years experience in a Canadian architectural firm; or an architect or architectural designer from another province willing to relocate to Canada\'s capital.

The senior leadership team seeks an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, a go-getter that asks lots of questions, is teachable, and dedicated to their continued professional development.

The firm is willing to consider one-time relocation expenses (maximum 10K, including a trip to visit Ottawa & the firm) for the right candidate.

THE TYPE OF CANDIDATE THEY SEEK

• Minimum of 3 years working for a Canadian architectural firm; plus a good deal of varied project experience of everything from 100K renovations to $100 million dollar projects
• Must have a car to drop by sites for client meetings (meeting kick-offs, minutes, compliance walk-throughs)
• Experience putting together architectural drawings; dealing with subconsultants; juggling multiple projects
• Demonstrated knowledge (portfolio) of building science fundamentals and detailing (air vapor barriers, slab on grade, trusses, pull out section details); not just renderings, floor plans and elevations
• A proactive mindset; someone capable of learning from senior staff members, changing design direction based on evolving needs and proposing ideas that solve clients problems; the ability to explain how you have previously dealt with demanding clients as design timing or budget issues arose
• Experience working with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite
• Some Project management and CA experience is desirable
• Excellent communication skills
