Every day we apply our expertise, creativity, and passion to propel communities into the futurexe2x80x94join us!Your OpportunityThe Stantec office in Yellowknife, NT has an opportunity for an Architect or Intern Architect to become part of our integrated / multi-disciplinary Architecture and Engineering practice.As a key contributor on our professional Architecture team in Northern Canada, you will work both collaboratively and independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, award-winning designs. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals. You will participate in the development of integrated design proposals, continuous updating of a building information model, preparing a variety of output / drawings throughout the project, while collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables.Your Key ResponsibilitiesManage tasks of varying complexity on multiple projectsEffectively participate and help to win work in interviews for potential projectsPlan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the clientKeep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverablesUnderstand the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respect the boundaries of the Principal in Chargexe2x80x99s responsibilitiesAssist in the negotiation and development of project agreementsDevelop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performanceAssure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documentedLead or assist project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractorsManage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and scheduleConduct peer review of deliverables, including Building Condition Assessments and Tender DocumentsWork with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommend personnelTravel to small communities to conduct building condition assessments or review construction progressDirect client invoicing and effectively manage collectionsQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsProject experience supporting our teamxe2x80x99s ability to win work during proposal responsesCapable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principalxe2x80x99s in Charge on multiple projectsAbility to prepare design and building condition assessment reportsExcellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, northern building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standardsProactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidanceEffectively manages multiple deadlines and prioritiesTeam player with the client, entire project team and contractorExcellent negotiator and communicatorRequires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite; prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUpEducation and ExperienceBachelorxe2x80x99s or Masterxe2x80x99s degree in architecture or related fieldMinimum of 3-5 years of related work experienceRegistered or able to become registered within one year, as an Architect or Intern Architect with the Northwest Territories Association of Architects (NWTAA) or another Canadian Architects AssociationPreferential credentials include: a LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, Lean project management or PMP, Contract Administration or Certified Specification Writer, and/or related Building Science or TechnicalTypical office environment working with computers. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.
