JOB POSTING A.E.W. LP Heritage Field Director The Organization: A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka\xe2\x80\x99pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out \xe2\x80\x9con the ground\xe2\x80\x9d work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka\xe2\x80\x99pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka\xe2\x80\x99pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka\xe2\x80\x99pamux title and rights. The Role: A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking a (3) full-time Heritage Field Director(s) based out of Southern Interior or Lower Mainland, BC. We are in search of highly motivated leaders to work with the Archaeology department as a Heritage Field Director(s) to provide on-site management, direction and reporting of activities and personnel related to archaeological projects and Cultural Heritage projects. Reporting to the Director of Archaeology, the Heritage Field Director will:

  • Conducting background research and report review
  • Planning and logistics for field projects
  • Liaising with community members and NNTC personnel
  • Conducting survey and shovel testing
  • Recording and maintaining accurate field notes and photographic records
  • Collecting and logging GPS data
  • Site mapping using survey-grade equipment and/or chain and compass
  • Planning and executing evaluative unit excavations
  • Drawing EU profiles and recording layer characterizations
  • Training and mentoring field crew
  • Submitting complete daily field paperwork to the Project Manager for approval
  • Assisting with report mapping
  • Supervising more junior staff and other field workers where appropriate
  • Preparing summary, interim and final reports
  • Commitment to be a positive team member
  • Commitment to respecting Nlaka\xe2\x80\x99pamux title and rights
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or an undergraduate degree with equivalent experience
  • Eligible for Field Director status for the Interior Plateau B.C.
  • 4 years demonstrated experience in B.C. heritage resource management (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and experience in adhering to occupational health & safety practices
  • Strong technical, mapping and reporting ability
  • Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience working with Indigenous Communities
  • Valid First Aid certification (Level 1 minimum)
  • Valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence
  • BC-based archaeology field school (or equivalent)
