Successful candidates will be based in our Vancouver office.WSP Field Directors and Project Staff will work closely with you to find opportunities which supports your journey to becoming a Field Director. The successful candidate will gain valuable and diverse work experience throughout BC as part of our regional team.   • Carrying out archaeological survey, monitoring, sediment screening, test excavation or mitigative excavation in cultural resources management under the direction of the Field Crew Supervisor and in compliance with Heritage Conservation Act permits;
  • Assisting with leading archaeological field programs
  • Working closely with Indigenous community members while out in the field
  • Participating in Indigenous community relationship-building
  • Undertaking analysis and preparing sections of technical reports
  • Supervising junior staff and Indigenous workers where appropriate
  • Working collaboratively with Indigenous community members in a respectful and collaborative manner
  • Participating in WSP\'s Health & Safety program
  • Demonstrating a \xe2\x80\x9cSafety First\xe2\x80\x9d focus and acting as a role model to other staff and complying with the WSP Fit for Duty Policy
What you\'ll bring to WSP:The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or an undergraduate degree with equivalent experience SG: I find this unclear. I think it has been maladapted from Alberta, where you need an MA or equivalent experience. I think we just say \xe2\x80\x9cAn undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Working towards your Field Director status in the BC Northwest Coast culture area
  • Experience identifying, recording and evaluating the full range of archaeological site types expected in the BC Northwest Coast culture area This is more appropriate for someone who is ready to apply for Field Director status. This is an asset but not a requirement and may turn people away. Very few people have all of these things. We could say, \xe2\x80\x9cExperience identifying, recording and evaluating archaeological sites, with a preference given to candidates with experience for the full range of archaeological site types expected in the BC Northwest Coast culture area.\xe2\x80\x9d
  • Experience working with Indigenous Communities and Peoples. Preference will be given to candidates with positive relationships with First Nations in the Lower Mainland area
  • An ability and willingness to perform field work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Proficiency with standard data collection equipment including GPS and hand-held tablets
  • Proven oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to contribute to a positive teamwork environment as well as to work independently
  • Solid MS Office skills
  • Valid driver\'s license (Class 5)
  • UTV and First Aid Certification would be considered an asset
CompensationExpected Salary (British Columbia): $60,000 - $82,600The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
