The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. POSITION SUMMARY:



The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning and delivery of aquatic programming, regular aquatic training sessions and staff meetings. The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of each staff person while on deck as either an Instructor or Lifeguard including ensuring that the instructors provide safe, enjoyable swimming lessons. Additionally, this position is responsible for reporting to the Regional Supervisor of Aquatics and Camp and the General Manager any issues that may arise during the day to day operations of the aquatics facility on a regular basis. They will maintain open communication with the Regional Supervisor of Aquatics and Camp and the General Manager as well as the parents of the children in their programs.

RESPONSBILITIES:



Provide deck level leadership, coaching and mentoring to part time lifeguards and swim instructors Maintain all candidate records and progress reports as required Enhance the quality and overall experience of the Aquatic Program using Y Way program guidelines Maintain open communication with staff and parents. Deal with any concerns and share with the Regional Supervisor of Aquatics and Camp Planning and delivery of all in-service training events and staff meetings Lifeguard & Teach Swimming Lessons & Aqua Fitness Classes, as needed Deliver Advanced Leadership Certification Courses (Bronze levels, ALC, First Aid, etc.) Assist with Manager on Duty shifts Respond to any questions or concerns immediately in a helpful and positive manner Possess an excellent working knowledge of the current program brochure Foster a good public image for the facility in particular and the YMCA of Central East Ontario in general Act in a manner that promotes the values of the YMCA of Central East Ontario. Respond to direction from Senior Staff in a positive, helpful and immediate manner Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THIS POSITION:



National Lifeguard Certification Recognized Swim Instructor Qualification (Red Cross, LSS). YMCA Swim Instructors Certification an asset Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor an asset Standard First Aid Instructor & Examiner an asset Bronze Cross Examiner an asset YMCA Aqua Fitness Instructor an asset

EXPERIENCE:



Minimum 2 years teaching experience, YMCA experience preferred Supervisory experience, displaying leadership skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:



Noise may be present depending on environment Heat and humidity may be present Requirement of Standard First Aid and CPR Vulnerable Sector check
