Role:




As an Aquatic Programs Coordinator, you are responsible for the safety and overall experience of the aquatic facilities. You will oversee the daily to one year out operations of all aquatics staff and the aquatics department, developing a schedule that is published in a timely manner and follows Alberta Labor Standards. You will assist in the development and programming creation of lessons and lesson assignments and be required to work within the Avocado program software. You will create and connect with our customers, community and employees in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause. You will participate in re-imagining and evolving the aquatic team's play-based and curriculum-based experiences. You'll engage with passion and be accountable to the team to help deliver strong results and impact.



As a coordinator your goal will be to provide support and leadership to ensure the team operates in a proficient and professional manner, proving a safe and customer centric experience for our Customers and Employees using our Aquatic facilities and within aquatic programs.

Responsibilities

:

Represent the Aquatics experience with expert knowledge and welcoming presence. Demonstrate and coach effective teaching techniques, behavior strategies, and safety practices. Manage lesson logistics and serve as the main contact for participants. Champion safety standards and incident prevention with leadership and urgency. Respond to emergencies with confidence and composure. Guide daily operations, mentor staff, and foster a supportive team culture. Ensure all certifications, policies, and health regulations are met. Cultivate inclusive, play-based learning environments. Strategically assign instructors, track certifications, and support development. Lead hiring, onboarding, and staff training initiatives. Oversee scheduling, payroll support, and shift coverage. Maintain facility operations, cleanliness, and equipment readiness. Coordinate swimmer placements, assessments, and instructor evaluations. Drive program excellence through admin, supply management, and timely reporting. Contribute to programming, cross-departmental collaboration, and process improvements. Share talents and enthusiasm to inspire a healthy, connected community. Embrace adaptability and physical demands in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

Qualifications:



National Lifeguard, Swim, and Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner certifications including Instructor Trainer-level (required). Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C/AED. 3+ years of experience lifeguarding and instructing; 1+ year in a supervisory role. Proficiency with scheduling/admin software: Avocado and WhenToWork (asset). Recent Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within 2 months).

Shifts and Compensation:



Full-time (40 hours/week). Flexible scheduling including regular evening & weekend shifts (Sunday-Thursday). Schedule is subject to change based on operational and departmental requirements. Comprehensive benefit package begins after 3 months.
