Reporting to the Assistant Site Manager and the Site Manager, the Aquaculture Technician - Skipper is responsible for performing daily site tasks safely along with other crew members in relation to barge operations, fish husbandry, and site maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
Safe and efficient operation of the vessels/barges
Ensuring the safety of work for yourself and other crew members
Anchor line removing and re-attaching
Biosecurity procedures
Escape response and prevention
Feed Delivery and storage
Feed sample procedures
Fish Health Checks
Wildlife interaction planning
Machinery maintenance of fish cages, barge, feed, and aeration systems
Maintenance and programming
Radio operation and procedure
Collecting stock ready for Harvest or treatments (Using a seine/ cork line)
Mort collection procedure and classifications
Collecting and monitoring environmental data
Camera and sensor cleaning and installation
Keeping living quarters and work areas clean and tidy
Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Physically fit - ability to lift 40lbs/20kg feed bags;
Ability to problem solve;
Well-developed interpersonal skills;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Able to work well in a team;
Favorable driver's license.
Training, Education, and Experience
Prefer Aquaculture Certificate or Diploma from an accredited program or science-based degree in Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources, Biology, Marine Biology, or Fisheries Resource Management and/or 3 years related or general work experience.
FM4 certification is required.
Working Conditions
Mainly outside, at the Marine Sea Sites
Wet/cold/damp environment
Accommodations will be provided on barges
Aquaculture Technicians work 40 hours weekly for eight (8) consecutive days on following six (6) consecutive days off before returning to work.
