Course Description: Introduction to the teaching of one of many disciplines at the intermediate and senior divisions. Impact of the particular discipline on the whole learner; individualized instruction; theoretical framework and pedagogical implications; critical examination and interpretation of relevant curriculum guidelines. Development of programs; analysis and application of specific teaching strategies and techniques unique to the discipline. Evaluation procedures and techniques.

Requirements:

Masters degree in education required;
PhD degree in education will be given preference. At least one of the following:
1) recent experience in teaching full-time in a school or working in the administration of a school board including two years of experience in implementing the Ontario curriculum in the Senior Division with specialist qualification in Visual Arts, or
2) current peer-review research file related to Visual Arts, or
3) recent PhD comprehensive examinations related to Visual Arts.
Demonstrated knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum relating to Visual Arts and of the documents of the Ontario Ministry of Education relating to Visual Arts. Proven capacity to apply the Ethical Standards and Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Teachers. The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those set out above.
