Topics : Mindful Aging in a Modern Context

A critical examination of the powerful cultural taboos against aging that characterize our contemporary culture, which has been described as youth-oriented, self-focussed and entirely elder-less. This inter-generational course will explore diverse age-positive and engagement oriented perspectives on life and will consider relevant aspects of the aging process within a modern context, including the practical, spiritual, and ethical implications that invoke our shared humanity and bring to the fore the necessary function of an elder. We will engage in reflection, discussion and contemplative practices that ask more of us, body, mind and soul, in order to embrace the changes that are an inevitable part of life and continue in life-long service to our communities and natural world.
