The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Education:

This role requires a strong balance of leadership skills and hands-on development to mentor the team, set coding standards, and ensure best practices are followed.
10+ years of recent experience with design and development of enterprise scalable applications using Java/J2EE, Spring Framework and related technologies.
Strong experience in front-end/UI development using frameworks like Angular (preferably Angular 8+) and React
Architect, design, and implement scalable and high-performance applications.
Drive code reviews, debugging, testing, and performance optimization for all software layers.
Engineer enterprise solutions within an Agile software delivery team, working to collaboratively deliver sprint goals, write code, and participate in the broader Citi technical community and team-level Agile and Scrum processes
Excellent hands-on experience in microservices architecture, including service discovery, API gateways, and inter-service communication.
Proficiency in UI/UX best practices and building highly interactive web applications.
Knowledge of reactive programming for building asynchronous, event/message-driven systems in microservices based applications that are highly concurrent.
Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and distributed messaging systems (e.g., Kafka).
Exposure to and experience in development with GenAI tools and products
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to prepare and deliver effective presentation
