Position Overview



The Apprentice Welder will work alongside our team to support our operations including fabrication, repair, and maintenance tasks. This position will primarily be supporting our projects and operations. All equipment, PPE and mandatory training will be provided by the company.

Working Conditions



Work is based in the yard as well as possible field opportunities, primarily outdoors in varied weather conditions. Work may occur at construction sites, marine yards, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects.

Key Roles & Responsibilities



Assist with preparation and completion of welding and fabrication tasks Operate and maintain welding tools and equipment Maintain a clean work site Prepare and clean materials, tools, and workspaces before and after tasks Perform basic grinding, cutting, and material handling duties Support field and shop fabrication Follow company policies, procedures, and work instructions at all times Transport materials

Key Qualifications and Experience



Basic knowledge and experience operating welding processes and hand tools (Oxy/Fuel, Plasma, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW & GTAW considered an asset) Welding certifications (CWB, Apprenticeship registration, other recognized tickets, Trade or Tech training) Knowledge of basic rigging, lifting, and material handling procedures Familiarity with weld quality inspection methods (visual checks, measuring bead size, recognizing defects) Ability to identify and select correct welding consumables (electrodes, filler metals, shielding gases) Trade School Certificate Apprentice Logbook Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding task Ability to interpret and follow drawings and sketches) Awareness of workplace hazards and safe work practices Strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork Familiarity with measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, gauges) and ability to take accurate measurements Ability to prepare, clean, and set up materials prior to welding Basic understanding of metal properties (steel, aluminum, stainless) and their applications Ability to maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in safe operating condition Good problem-solving skills and adaptability in challenging field environments Effective communication skills to follow instructions and work with team members. Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to learn new skills.

Conduct all work activities safely and in accordance with HSEQ guidelines Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Report incidents, near misses, or hazards immediately to supervisors Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and company training programs

Enrollment in the welding apprenticeship program Physical Fitness: Ability to handle repetitive physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing, walking, bending and kneeling. Training and Development Requirements: Employees will complete all mandatory general training identified by Advanced Access Engineering. Additional welding- and safety-related training will be provided as required Employee competencies will be evaluated on an ongoing basis with opportunities for advancement through training. Opportunities for other professional development. Additional specific training will be provided as required by the company.
