Manufacturing Division

has been manufacturing, modifying or repairing some of the biggest and most unique components in Canada. Large and diverse machining & welding capacities enable a wide variety of work including manual & CNC machining, laser PTA heat treating & cladding, robotic & B pressure welding, surface grinding, fabricating, drilling, and millwrighting services. Universe Machine provides full in-house engineering support with numerous proven procedures and certification incl. ISO 9001:2015, APEGA, ABSA and COR.

Apprentice Machinist (Year 1-4)

Job Type:

Full Time - 40 Hours per week

Shift:

7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Opportunity as an Apprentice Machinist will include the following Skills, Experiences and Qualifications:

Working in compliance with safety regulations

Performing the machining of parts on conventional equipment (band saw, lathe, milling machine, grinder, drill press, etc.)

Using measuring instruments (micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, etc.)

Required Skills of Apprentice Machinist:

Must be results driven, conscientious, dependable, punctual and possessing a strong work ethic

Must possess strong communication skills, positive attitude and a strong sense of their true abilities

General mechanical aptitude and mechanical background with emphasis on trouble shooting and problem solving

Required Experience/Education of Apprentice Machinist:

Legally eligible to work for an employer in Canada without sponsorship.

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Able understand, communicate and read English

Basic computer skills

Assets in Experience/Skills of Apprentice Machinist:

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Additional Information:

Fast pace shop

Overtime required when necessary

Physical tasks include walking, grasping, carrying, lifting
