Position Overview:Velocity Truck Centre Canada, formally known as P&R Truck Centre, is looking for a 3rd/4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanics in Saanichton. In this position you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of commercial trucks and heavy-duty equipment. You will work under the supervision of experienced mechanics and contribute to ensuring the fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability.What\'s in it for you:

Key Responsibilities:

• Help diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and assist in repairing engines, transmissions, and differentials
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and inspecting belts, hoses, brakes, and tires
• Assist in the removal and replacement of defective parts, ensuring all replaced components are tested and functioning properly
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment efficiently and safely, maintaining and organizing tools and equipment
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, participating in safety meetings and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment
• Accurately complete work orders and maintenance logs, reporting any issues or concerns to the supervising mechanic
• Interact with customers professionally and courteously, explaining repairs and maintenance tasks when necessary

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year apprentice in a heavy duty mechanic program
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a keen interest in commercial truck repair
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy parts and equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver\'s license; a Class 3 or Class 1 license is a plus
