Position Overview

Working under our Senior Technicians and reporting to the General Manager, the

Apprentice Gas Fitter / WETT Technician

supports installation and service of gas and wood appliances while building toward Gasfitter (Class B) and WETT tickets. You'll get structured training, field mentorship, and exposure to both residential and small commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

Install & Service Assist: Help with set out, venting layout, appliance placement/leveling, terminations, and finishing details under direct supervision. Support annual services and diagnostics (cleaning, gasket replacement, basic adjustments). Safety & Compliance: Follow manufacturer instructions and applicable codes; Load Outs & Materials: Stage parts and venting kits from work orders, keep the fleet vehicles clean and organized. Manage tools: Maintain tools ensuring that all tools and equipment is accounted for and ready for the next job. Customer Experience: Communicate courteously on site, protect customer property (drop sheets, clean up), and leave jobsites "ready to live in." Shop/Showroom Assist: Support warehouse tasks, receive parts, and help the sales floor with product basics as required. Work Orders (POS): Manage assigned work orders in the point of sale (POS) system. Estimates (POS): Prepare job estimates/quotes within the POS; capture scope, parts/venting, labour, and site notes for approval and scheduling. Assists with other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Enrollment in (or eligibility for) a BC Gasfitter Class B apprenticeship is preferred; related trades or service experience is an asset. WETT certification (preferred) or a strong interest in obtaining it with our support. Mechanical aptitude; comfortable with tape measures, levels, drills, and reading manuals/diagrams. Carpentry or other trades experience is considered a plus. Professional communication, teamwork, and a calm, problem solving mindset. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lb, work on ladders/roofs with training, and handle materials safely. Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean record. Fall Arrest and Forklift training are assets (we can help you get certified).
