Job Overview:

The Apprentice Electrician assists Journeyman Electricians in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment in compliance with electrical condes and regulations in Manitoba. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical systems, be willing to learn from experienced professionals and be committed to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Following electrical codes and regulations in Manitoba to ensure all work is completed safely and correctly. Learn from experienced professionals to develop skills in the electrical trade. Maintain a clean and organised work area. Help prepare job sites for installation of electrical systems and equipment. Drive to and from job sites in a safe and efficient manner.

Specific job duties include:

Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Assist in the testing of electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Use a variety of hand and power tools, such as wire strippers and pliers, to work on electrical systems. Help install and maintain lighting and control systems. Assist in connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers or torah components. Inspect electrical systems and equipment for any damage, defects or malfunctions. Help diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical systems and equipment. Replace or repair damaged electrical components. Other duties as requested by management.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Level 2 or 3 Apprenticeship. Enrollment in a recognized Apprenticeship Program for Electricians. Ability to work well in a team environment. Will to work flexible hours willing to travel and work at remote sites for short contracts. Solid understanding of basic electrical principles. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills. Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Criminal Records check with vulnerable persons.
