WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Apprentice Carpenter - Carpenter Apprentices currently indentured in the Alberta apprenticeship and training program periods 2-4

Apply Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation and Code and company safety policy related to all aspects of construction.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
Prepare layout in accordance to building codes and project specifications.
Measure, cut and install wall blocking and backing
Measure, cut and install parapet sheathing
Install building vapour barriers and thermal membranes
Maintain, repair and renovate residential, commercial and light industrial structures.
Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed
Installation of underslab vapour barrier, and radon membranes including associated mechanical fastening systems, caulking and tape.
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
Mix, pour, spread, level concrete
Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, barricades as required.
Perform construction/renovation/demolition activities.
Install steel or wood door frames and doors plumb and square.
Install commercial door hardware and accessories.
Install public washroom accessories such as grab bars, change tables, paper towel dispensers etc to be compliant with barrier free design guidelines and building code with little to no supervision.
Measure, cut and install FRP panels and trims
Install architectural materials and components as required, flooring, wall coverings, wainscotting, picture frames, corner guards, ceiling details, etc.
Operate equipment, secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities.
Clean up construction debris and remove materials to refuse container.
Direct traffic at or near construction sites.
Use a variety of tools and equipment to complete the assigned construction tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
All knowledge and skill should be consistent with level of training and years of experience.
Knowledge of equipment, materials & supplies associated with construction.
Knowledge of the applicable methods and procedures involved in the safe handling and storage of construction equipment and supplies.
Ability to operate and unload materials using a forklift, skid steer and telehandler
An understanding of the proper lifting techniques (manual and mechanical).
Demonstrate the proper safety procedures as set out in the OH&S and company safety manuals.
Other Requirements
Minimum 2-years experience in carpentry/construction
Must have reliable transportation
Must have a valid drivers licence
Must be able to read/write and understand English
