APPLIED RESEARCH WORKSHOP & EDUCATION DEVELOPER

RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATION

NorQuesters are difference makers and we\xe2\x80\x99re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Research and Academic Innovation team as an Applied Research Workshop and Education Developer. The successful candidate will thrive in showcasing our values as they develop applied research-specific workshop and other learning opportunities for our faculty, students, and staff. Highly developed relationship building skills and the ability to keep your finger on the pulse of educational and research trends will serve you well as you develop new educational resources and opportunities throughout the organization. This opportunity may involve mentoring faculty and coaching them through the research project process and in building research projects into existing courses. This is a term position to June 30, 2024, with the possibility of renewal pending budget approval.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a broad range of research knowledge, and extensive experience teaching research. They should be able to assess proposals and budgets prior to submission to ensure compliance with NorQuest and federal research guidelines as well as ethical, legal, and financial obligations the college has to its faculty, customers, stakeholders, students, and community.

HOW YOU\'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Develop and run a series of 15-20 workshops on a range of research topics each year. * Organize the NorQuest College Research Speaker Series and the annual Research & Innovation Showcase.

  • Develop and run research summer camps for youth and current NorQuest learners.
  • Meet with faculty on an ad hoc basis to help them develop their research ideas into full, fundable projects that include students
  • Help faculty develop course-based applied research projects.
  • Help faculty and staff develop Mitacs Accelerate applications.
  • Develop and maintain research educational resources for the college.
  • Work with NorQuest\xe2\x80\x99s researchers, faculty, and staff to understand existing and emergent college research areas in order to identify and build opportunities for faculty and students to become involved.
  • Follow the College\xe2\x80\x99s contract management framework and all associated documentation requirements.
  • Work with the WILCEC team to ensure that all research projects involving students are appropriate reported and tracked.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Research Office processes that provide value to NorQuest and its customers.
  • Perform \xe2\x80\x9cJust Do It\xe2\x80\x9d tasks as required to activities that require simple improvements.
  • Attend events or meetings to help grow knowledge of how one can affect NorQuest\xe2\x80\x99s impact on our community.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a related field, at minimum. PhD is preferred.
  • 3+ years experience working with faculty in an educational capacity.
  • Experience in workshop facilitation required.
  • Experience developing and running student-focused educational learning opportunities is considered an asset.
  • 3 years of research experience, including experience writing proposals with budgets that have been funded.
  • Knowledgeable about and comfortable explaining a range of research methodologies, as well as qualitative and quantitative approaches.

  • An interest to share knowledge and mentor individuals in this area.
  • A proven commitment to creating an inclusive environment while working with a diverse group of individuals.
SALARY: This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the agreement outlines how pay is determined. Reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience, with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs. This is a term position until June 30, 2024 with the possibility of extension.
