SynergyAG was founded in 2016 and is an independently owned crop input retailer with eight locations serving
Western Canada. We are a young, fast-paced, growing company focused on bringing agronomic solutions to
Canadian agriculture. We have a full complement of sales and agronomy staff to serve our growers. THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Applied Agronomy Lead is responsible for providing high level agronomic support to location sales teams and for coordinating SynergyAG applied research activities. This position operates within the Customers for Life sales process and partners closely with the Agronomic Precision Lead to strengthen the value propositions of customer solutions at the location level. LOCATION: Regina Area, Saskatchewan/1 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
  • Provide high level agronomic guidance to location sales teams, determining the specific needs and providing training, as appropriate.
  • Partner with the Agronomic Precision Lead to incorporate Precision Management tools (SWAT maps, AgScouter, etc.) into customer solutions to increase grower long term success.
  • Coach locations on the interpretations of soil and tissue tests, as required, recommending best practices for soil fertility management based on results.
  • Review and incorporate product recommendations into customer solutions using data from internal trials to support customer success.
  • Lead the Applied Research Team to firmly integrate sales and research and increase uptake of innovative agronomic offerings through coordination, conduction, review, and communication of applied research activities.
  • Assume the lead point of contact with external contract organizations, industry, other external research teams, investigating and/or embracing any research funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate and host annual protocol planning/finalization meetings and Research portion of the
Sales & Research Summit.
  • Contribute to the on-line social media strategy, providing scientific information on selected topics, as required.
  • Collaborate with locations, present at customer events to showcase agronomic solutions, innovation, and expertise, when appropriate to support product sales.
  • Prepare data summaries and present field trial results to influencer communities to build credibility and knowledge of agronomic service and research support.
  • Represent SynergyAG at external meetings, conferences, and tours to stay current on industry offerings and trends. Transfer knowledge back to locations, when appropriate.
  • Travel to locations frequently throughout the year, to provide consistent coaching and guidance on agronomic/innovative solutions for customers

Research
  • Design product testing to understand product performance to support sales recommendations primarily on co-formulated products, nutrition, biological and stimulants, secondarily on regulated, soil applied technology.
  • Collaboratively develop and manage a schedule for the conduction of SynergyAG research
(growth chamber, customer trials, etc.).
  • Secure and finalize compensation agreements from third party organizations for conduction of research trials.
  • Initiate growth chamber trials to support the validation of new products for a potential fit for
SynergyAG market areas. Based on growth chamber research, submit recommendation of what test products are taken to the customer field level.
  • Act as the pivot point of control for the coordination of customer field trials. Proactively prepare, collaboratively refine, and share customer field trial protocols with locations in advance of field season, clearly outlining expectations for trial conduction, sales agronomist responsibilities, data collection, and communication.
  • Develop SOPs, protocols, and data capture forms to increase the standardization, success and reporting of research, collaborating with subject matter experts, when required.
  • Maintain open, frequent, and guiding communication with locations to support generation of high-quality data through education, collaboration, and demonstration.
  • Ensure Precision Management tools (SWAT maps, Farm @ Hand, AgScouter, etc.) are utilized as much as possible to support customer trial research across locations.
  • Provide necessary training to personnel involved in data collection of customer trials, ensuring personnel understand how to collect the data, use the forms, and share the data back to in a timely fashion to allow for summarization.
  • Review customer trial data on a location-by-location basis, as well as across locations, to determine value in cross organizational sharing, sales communication, marketing, and social media opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education in agriculture or related science discipline (soil and crop science, ideally).
  • Experience with Western Canadian agriculture required.
  • Research experience and coordination a strong asset.
  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to make soil fertility recommendations.
  • Progressive and forward thinking in terms of agronomic solutions, communication, and application of innovative to customers.
  • Comfort discussing agricultural solutions with producers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently, remote at times.
  • Familiarity with precision agronomy would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated professionalism with a positive attitude.
  • Detail orientated with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Takes initiative, is dependable, reliable, and safety conscious.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
