For individuals located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, there are hybrid (mix of on-site and remote) work opportunities.We are looking for a highly motivated Applications Scientist with expertise in microbiology within the energy industry (upstream, midstream, refining, finished fuels), preferably with experience in the aviation fuel sector.Reporting to the Applications Lead - Energy, the Applications Scientist will play a critical role in promoting and supporting the use of our microbial test kits. This individual will be a key member of LuminUltra\'s Technology & Innovation team and work closely with our sales and marketing teams to ensure our products meet customer needs and perform effectively in various applications.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping customers achieve their goals. In this role, the Applications Scientist will have key responsibilities such as:

  • Market Development
  • Develop and deliver thought leadership, including technical presentations, webinars, and case studies to highlight product benefits and applications.
  • Represent LuminUltra in technical committees (ASTM, IATA, AMPP, etc).
  • Participate in conference/trade show planning and execution (before, during and after), and attend applicable technical sessions.
  • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external researchers/stakeholders and manage proof-of-concept studies.
  • Customer Engagement:
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their specific needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Assist in the design and execution of validation studies for customers to ensure product efficacy and reliability.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for product improvement and development.
  • Provide Level 2 Technical Support in conjunction with our Customer Experience team.
  • Sales Support
  • Assist in sales presentations by providing technical expertise on productions and applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on industrial microbiology.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical role focused on microbiological control in the energy sector, with a preference for experience in aviation fuels.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Works well in fast-paced environments within set deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with ability to take a proactive approach to addressing challenges and improving processes.
