Quotation & Proposal Development:

Create detailed technical proposals and cost estimates. This includes selecting gear types (harmonic, wave, spur, helical, bevel, worm, planetary), specifying tolerances (AGMA, ISO), materials, and processes to meet customer specifications for load, life, noise, and size.

Design & Modeling:

Use 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA) and specialized gear software (e.g., KISSsoft, Romax, AGMA standards) to model custom gear designs, perform preliminary analysis, and generate layout drawings for customer review.

Cross-Functional Liaison:

Act as the critical link between the customer, sales, and manufacturing teams. Communicate customer requirements clearly to production and ensure the proposed design is optimized for manufacturability (DFM) and cost.

Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis:

Provide expert-level support for technical issues, both during the design phase and in the field. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on failed components and recommend design or material modifications to prevent recurrence.

Project Management:

Manage the technical aspects of customer projects from the initial inquiry through to production launch, ensuring all technical milestones are met.

3+ years of experience in a gear design, development, or applications engineering role, specifically with

high-precision components

.

Technical Proficiency:

Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software. Experience with gear design and analysis software (KISSsoft, Romax, MASTA, or equivalent). Deep understanding of gear geometry, tooth modifications, and their impact on performance and noise. Knowledge of gear manufacturing processes (hobbing, shaping, grinding, honing) and heat treatment (carburizing, nitriding). Ability to read and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) on complex engineering drawings.

Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent customer-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
