Your Role: Applications Specialist
As an Applications Specialist at Ionic Automation, you'll be the bridge between creativity and execution. You'll collaborate across departments--sales, project management, mechanical and electrical engineering--to design and propose turnkey automation solutions that meet our clients' unique needs.
What You'll Do
Lead customer RFQ review sessions on-site or at our facility, translating requirements into actionable insights
Engage with suppliers to secure accurate material and equipment estimates for budgets and proposals
Design efficient equipment layouts that boost productivity and safety, andproduce innovative cell layout drawings tailored to the customer's needs
Help define project deliverables, schedules, and interface lists
Draft clear technical specifications to guide the engineering process
Identify technical risks early, assess their impact, and implement mitigation strategies
Generate detailed specifications and cost estimates aligned with project goals
Offer proactive design support for integrated components and complex electro-mechanical assemblies
Prepare initial budgets and quotations
Participate in review meetings, address challenges, and propose solutions
Facilitate early-stage conflict resolution to maintain a positive, collaborative environment
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and distributors
Coordinate proposal delivery and ensure compliance with our internal processes
Participate in industry events
Expect up to 25% travel, with flexibility for exceptional project requirements
What You Bring
Minimum of 5 years applications engineering experience in the automation industry
Degree or diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and the MS Office suite
Proven ability to inspire teams and deliver high-quality proposals under tight deadlines
Expertise in system integration, electrical controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for translating technical concepts into clear messages
Confidence in creating engaging presentations for diverse audiences
