Job Description

The Applications Developer's primary focus is to work as part of an agile SCRUM team to develop innovative solutions to meet requirements provided by Product Owners and Customers. This will include improvements to existing products and bug fixes. This role also includes supporting the training team through completion of data conversions.

Additional responsibilities include network and computer management; Technical Support / Trainer Support assistance and training; and performing a variety of other projects and assignments as required.

Position Responsibilities:

Development Architecture: 5 - 25 %

- Development Architecture

- Works with Product Owners / Lead Developer in view of the big picture to determine best long term strategies for the Software

- Participates in determining options and pitfalls for various initiatives to help come up with workable solutions

- Projects

- Help organize projects within the Ticket Management system and related documents

- Assesses, analyzes and determines how requests will impact the customers journey

Development: 20 - 50 %

- Uses Agile SCRUM methodology

- Participates in daily stand-ups

- Sub-divides complex stories into workable pieces

- Meet with Product Owners to clarify acceptance criteria

- Accurately story point tickets

- Participate in all SCRUM related meetings

- Proper documentation in our Ticket Management system

- Creates code to complete assigned tickets

- Ensures Comments and Acceptance Criteria are read and understood

- Research how to fix bugs properly, correcting the source of the problem

- Uses Test Driven Development as appropriate

- Ensures proper code documentation completed

- Ensures no new compiler errors/warnings added to program

- Ensures Story is properly tested prior to passing for Functional Testing

- Work with a GIT repository

Optimization and Security Improvements: 5 - 15 %

- Refactor existing systems to improve quality and efficiency

- Research and implement system improvements

- Ensure the system is compliant with current security requirements and regulations

Infrastructure Management: 5 - 10 %

- Participate with the Internal Networks team

- Source and implement equipment as needed

- Setup Servers and Services for the office

- Assist with security systems

Other Team Support: 10 - 30 %

- Provides training on how new developments / functions work

- Provides technical support coaching and help as needed

- Receives customer data

- Reviews and assesses data for transfer

- Build new conversion tools as required

- Runs pre-conversion and provides data to customer for verification and checking

- Fixes and makes adjustments as needed

- Processes final conversion and performs any post fixes

Education

- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

- Scrum Certification an Asset

Experience

- 5+ years of experience development experience

- Leadership / coaching experience an asset

- Experience with visual object oriented programming, preferably Delphi/RAD

- SQL experience preferably Firebird / Interbase

- Ticket Management Systems preferably JIRA
