This position can be worked out of our Calgary or Saskatoon offices.

The Application Security Engineer will support critical business operations. This is a new position looking to continue the maturation of DevSecOps to automate security to its fullest.

The ideal candidate will have experience working collaboratively with security operations and cloud services globally expanding the security program\'s accuracy, completeness, risk profile, assessment (inventory) management, integrating application security tools with application programming interfaces, reviewing findings, assigning criticality, analyzing industry trends for accountability, and traceability to feed the maturation of security-first methodologies.

This role reports to the Sr Manager, Application Security - Global as part of Nutrien Ag Solutions.

What you will do:

• Develop programmatic measures that build a risk profile associated to infrastructure, application, and data from varying authoritative data sources so that they are detected, identified, and responded to
• Work closely with product, platform, and development teams to automate the implementation of security controls programmatically to the reduce risks in application development
• Plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security measures that encompass dependency management, access control, secret management, code vulnerabilities, and malformed code repositories
• Work with functional-architects, engineering, and security analysts throughout Nutrien to ensure adequate security solutions and controls are automated throughout all systems, cloud systems, and platforms to remediate identified risks sufficiently, and to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements both internally and externally
• Provide security subject matter expertise on application security and help project teams comply with enterprise and IT security policies, industry regulations, and best practices
• Design security configuration standards, procedures, and guidelines for platforms such as a baseline security configuration and hardening guidelines in associated with industry benchmarks
• Mitigates risk by updating the protection mechanisms and developing appropriate detections via appropriate automation and tools to facilitate an effective incident response and notification
• Automate internal, cloud and platform security controls, reducing intrusiveness of compliance while meeting the need to be accurate and complete based on higher levels of maturity in accordance with CMMI
• Research, designs, and advocates for new technologies and security products that will support security requirements for the enterprise and its customers, business partners, and vendors
• Contributes to the development and maintenance of the information security strategy
• Creates/Supports integrations of security tools into a central analytics system for risk profiling all solutions and their supporting components
• Favors automation to manual practices and has a passion for continual improvement

What you will bring:

• Bachelor\'s Degree required, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; experience may be considered in lieu of education
• 3-5 years of related experience
• Knowledgeable with Data Analytics and automation of data analytics via a programming language like Python
• Knowledgeable with AWS Cloud Security Features
• Level of expertise with querying data from APIs
• Level of expertise with building tools that write data to databases and read data from databases
• Knowledgeable with GitHub security features
• Knowledgeable with secure coding practices
• Passion to learn and develop processes that automate all practices.
• Willingness to pursue certifications

Preferred:

• Certifications - AWS Security Specialty or equivalent in Azure or Google
• Experience with GoLang/Go/Python language
• Understands DevSecOps processes
• Familiarity with cloud formation/terraform infrastructure as code (IAC)
• Understands how to securely build and deploy a web application that is exposed to the internet
