About Our Opportunity

Reporting to a Manager within the Department of Cyber Security and Digital Solutions, this position provides functional / operational support of applications. The incumbent may also act as a liaison between and cross IT organization teams, a wide range of internal and externals stakeholders including business clients, technical and non-technical staff, outside vendors and the end user community regarding the analysis, design, and implementation of new systems and/or enhancements to existing applications and evaluates and implements solutions to resolve system problems. This position may participate in creating, executing and coordinating user acceptance testing/performance testing of all system changes, including updating and drafting of new procedures and training material. The incumbent may also be responsible for identifying training requirements in supporting the use of proposed technology solutions.

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a globally recognized collection of best practices for information technology service management, providing a customizable framework to achieve quality service and manage challenges associated with the growth of IT systems and services.

This position plays a key role in supporting the core ITIL Service Support processes to ensure a consistent level of services.

Responsibilities of an Application Operational Support Analyst:

  • Participates in the design development and the identification of all system changes to ensure all new system functionality is designed to meet the requirements. Provides detailed recommendations for design changes based on review of the proposed enhancements, expertise/advice on behalf of clients to system development and technical analysts and determines the impact to end users. Conducts an initial review and assessment to determine feasibility and impact to the existing system functionality and usability.
  • Assists in the development and establishment of policies, procedures, guidelines, manuals, FAQs, and self-help tools for end users.
  • Creates test plans or updates existing test plans and creates test data to ensure new enhancements meet defined business requirements. Conducts system tests to ensure enhancements are accurately and efficiently completed as designed and adhere to government and departmental policies, procedures, internal controls, privacy, integrity, and security requirements. May participate in maintaining test/training environments.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science; or have graduated from a recognized Information Technology program.

You will also have the following skills or experience:
  • Skilled in process improvement, change management, and client service principles, methods and delivery techniques and business analysis.
  • Knowledge of ITIL process and standards.
  • Knowledge of Office automation software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and collaborative software to write required documents or manipulate spreadsheets, as well as to support and guide users in their work.
  • Analytical skills to diagnose and resolve incidents/service request.
  • Ability to communicate at a technical and an end user level.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and/or independently to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to prioritize your own work.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 01 - PR 11

Salary Range: $1,579.34 - $2,852.85 Bi-Weekly
