The Global Capital Markets Technology team that supports the Global Banking and Markets business is looking for a Senior Developer/Analyst to take on a challenging and exciting role.

The incumbent will be involved with the continual support and eventual sunsetting an existing legacy application as well as contribute and provide support to a newer platform that leverages a modern technology stack. We are looking for creative, quick learning, self-starting, results and detail oriented, highly motivated individual with excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Accountabilities

  • Works closely with end-users, Business Analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Must take an interest in understanding the business functions of the end-users.
  • Investigate, analyze, develop and maintain a strong knowledge of trading workflows, technology and market structure to ensure most streamlined approaches are implemented
  • Participate in meetings /stand ups with stakeholders to prioritize development tasks aligned with business goals.
  • Contributes to the design of new applications and undertakes enhancements.
  • Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code
  • Involved in the full software development life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Show initiative to prepare and document artefacts that is important to the team
  • Prepare and support application releases intended for implementation to UAT and Production environments
  • Perform support of production trading applications to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any issues or questions.
  • Provide after hours support via an on-call pager on a rotational basis especially for application releases during a maintenance window or for other maintenance activities
Functional Competencies
  • Strong programming background, ideally including developing real-time, event-driven applications.
  • Hands on with development tools and languages such as Java (6+ yrs), Spring Boot, Hibernate
  • Experience with Angular 4+, RxJS, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap
  • Extensive experience in relational SQL development and Stored Procedures with Sybase database as well as understanding of general database objects and structures
  • Experience with UNIX Shell scripting in Sun Solaris/Linux environments
  • Proficient with SCM, Build and CI/CD tools such as Git/GitHub/Bitbucket, Artifactory, Maven, Jenkins/Cloud bees
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to take oral and written business requirements and develop efficient code to meet set deliverables.
  • Ability to break down technical information and disseminating it to senior non-technical management
  • Need to be able to multi-task and work on multiple platforms and multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and critical thinking is expected
  • Strong understanding of development best practices, TDD, test automation, and code quality
  • Motivated to keep developing one\'s skillset with the latest technology and programming techniques
  • Background in FIX and trading systems would be beneficial.
  • Familiar with Micro services architecture and design patterns, including event based micro service deployments.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field is desirable
  • Canadian Securities Course or demonstrated capital markets experience considered an asset.
  • Familiar with containers and container orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes)
